Villa Gualdana
Nestled in the hills south of Pavia, Villa Gualdana is set amidst picturesque and unspoiled countryside. This historic country house, dating back to the 1600s, sits on splendid private grounds adorned with mulberry and hazel trees, climbing roses, peonies, and hydrangeas. The property, celebrated for its historical and artistic significance by the Italian Architectural Heritage Commission, includes a main private residence and two adjacent buildings, ideal for hosting weddings and various events.
Villa Gualdana's architecture reflects the style of the early 1800s, thanks to renovations by Giuseppe Luigi Cavagna, the Mayor of Voghera, who was honored by King Carlo Alberto as the first Count of Gualdana. He was the first of his lineage to reside in the house year-round, but it was his son Giacinto who updated the villa's appearance just before the reunification of Italy, introducing a more 'modern' look. The villa features a neoclassical design, with a main façade connected to the grounds behind by a central gallery, where the primary reception rooms are located.
